Illinois has added a talented defensive end from Florida to its 2020 recruiting class.

Sunday, three-star defensive end Tre’von Riggins announced via Twitter that he has committed to Lovie Smith and the Illini. He becomes the 12th member of the 2020 class for Illinois, and is the team’s fourth pledge in the last week.

Riggins is a 6-foot-2, 265-pound defensive end out of St. Petersburg, Florida. He’s ranked as the No. 70 player at his position for the 2020 class and is one of the top 125 players out of his home state.

According to 247Sports, Riggins held 11 total offers. He chose Illinois over Miami, Arizona State, Florida, Syracuse, Tennessee and USF, among others. Riggins was previously committed to Miami, but decommitted from the program in late November.

With Riggins’ commitment, Illinois now ranks 67th nationally with the 2020 class. It is still No. 13 in the B1G, ahead of only Rutgers.
