Just in case there was any doubt, Richard Lagow will be Indiana’s starting quarterback in 2016.

That news finally became official when the Hoosiers released their depth chart ahead of next Thursday’s game at Florida International.

Kevin Wilson confirmed that news after meeting with the media to preview the Hoosiers’ season opener:

Wilson actually said that Lagow knew he was the guy dating back to the seventh practice of fall camp. He beat out the likes of Zander Diamont and Danny Cameron.

Lagow came into Indiana as the likely replacement to Nate Sudfeld. The JUCO transfer got all of spring andĀ fall camp to learn the offense.

The 6-4, 240-pound Plano, Texas product will have to fill after IU set school records for offense in 2015. The top-ranked JUCO pocket-passer did throw for 2,285 yards and 21 touchdowns in 2015.

IU will have a chance to build off its first bowl game in eight years with Lagow at the helm. He’ll look to get the Hoosiers off to a more convincing start than last year’s 48-47 nail-biter against Southern Illinois.

Next Thursday’s opener in Miami (FL) is set for 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPNU.
