Iowa has found an offense, and it comes in the form of a pair of elite tight ends.

Nate Stanley threw for six touchdown passes, three of which were credited to tight ends, and over 300 yards as the Hawkeyes punished the Hoosiers in a 42-16 win. And it T.J. Hockenson and Noah Fant who did most of the damage.

Hockenson and Fant accounted for two-thirds of Iowa’s passing offense, catching eight passes for 208 yards and three touchdowns in the win. It was another huge offensive effort for the Hawkeyes, after scoring 48 points against Minnesota a week ago.

If Iowa’s tight ends can play as well as they did on Saturday, the Hawkeyes will be almost unbeatable.

Hockenson and Fant weren’t just aggressive as pass-catchers in Bloomington, they were effective blockers. The Hawkeyes weren’t anything special on the ground, but they did rack up over 150 yards. And when Iowa hits the century mark on the ground, it’s resulted in wins.

It was also a disappointing effort for Indiana, which was coming off a tough fight against Ohio State. Many were expecting the Hoosiers to give Kirk Ferentz’s squad all they could handle on a Homecoming game. Instead, they essentially rolled over.

Tom Allen probably won’t have a rah-rah speech following that outing.

But Saturday was more about how well Iowa’s offense is meshing, particularly the passing attack. Stanley is starting to put together consistent efforts and prove he’s won of the top quarterbacks in the B1G.

Pair that with one of the conference’s top defenses, and the Hawkeyes might be one of the most dangerous teams in the league.

Sure, Iowa already has a home loss to Wisconsin, but at 5-1 (2-1 in the B1G), it’s still very much alive in the B1G West.

And if Hockenson and Fant continue to play at the level they performed on Saturday, the Hawkeyes are going to be one tough out.
