Maryland's surprise four-star RB commit flips schools after signing day
On Wednesday, Maryland got surprising news that four-star Cordarrian Richardson committed to the Terps. He didn’t have Maryland among his finalists, yet he committed to Maryland from outer space.
But on Thursday, Richardson delivered another surprise. He won’t be going to Maryland after all.
Instead, he’ll attend UCF in 2017.

Rivals reported that Richardson was going to face “an uphill battle” to qualify academically at Maryland. It’s unknown if that’s what led to the post-signing day switch.
Richardson is the No. 10 running back and the No. 160 recruit overall in the 2017 class. The Memphis tailback was Maryland’s second four-star 2017 running back, along with Anthony McFarland.
But even without Richardson, Maryland is loaded with talented tailbacks for the future. Ty Johnson and Lorenzo Harrison are one of the better returning 1-2 punches in the country.
Maryland finished with the No. 4 class in the B1G and the No. 18 class nationally, which was the program’s highest-rated group of the recruiting rankings era.
