It would’ve been a shame if Taco Charlton went his entire NFL career without getting a taco endorsement.

Fortunately, the former Michigan defensive end got that part taken care of before his first NFL game.

Taco Bueno announced — on Taco Tuesday — that Charlton will endorse its restaurants.

“At the heart of any good partnership is authenticity and genuine respect,” Taco Bueno president and CEO Mike Roper said in a statement via Dallas Morning News. “Taco is serious about football, and we are serious about Tex-Mex, and that is a winning combination. We couldn’t be more excited to bring some fun to all our fans this upcoming football season.”

Ironically enough, the Dallas Morning News had the headline “Taco Bueno” after Charlton was drafted by the Cowboys in the first round in April. The North Texas-based chain has been the home base for the chain for over 50 years.

Charlton’s taco endorsement was inevitable. Perhaps the only surprise was that Big Red soda beat Taco Bueno to the punch.

But let’s be honest. We know where Charlton’s true calling is.

“In my short time here, I have discovered that Texas is THE PLACE for tacos,” Charlton said via the Dallas Morning News. “Believe me, I’ve been trying them my whole life. “
