From the opening kickoff, Michigan had little trouble with Nebraska. In the B1G opener for both teams, the Wolverines exerted their dominance pretty early.

A 20-0 first quarter lead snowballed into a 39-0 halftime lead. And when it was all said and done, Michigan walked away with a 56-10 win over the Huskers. It was a bottom-of-the-barrel type of day for Nebraska.

After the game, Michigan defensive lineman Chase Winovich met with the media to talk about Saturday’s matchup against Nebraska. He had some interesting comments on the Huskers.

Winovich said that, as early as the first quarter, it didn’t seem like Nebraska even wanted to be on the same field.

“I’d say after the first series, whenever we scored the touchdown, I just felt like…it just seemed like they didn’t want to be out there,” he said. “I know that’s going to come off as very controversial. I’m going to stop myself there.”

When asked how he knew Nebraska didn’t want to be out there, Winovich said he could just sense it.

“There’s just an energy,” he said. “When you look at the person across from you, and whether it’s their play-calling, how they operate, how they move about. I just didn’t feel like they wanted it as bad as we did.”

After falling into a deep hole early in the game, you can understand why Nebraska’s players might’ve been a little down.
