Former Michigan State running back L.J. Scott has inked a free agent contract with the Cleveland Browns, the team announced on Monday afternoon.

Scott decided to forgo his final year of eligibility at Michigan State and pursue a career in the NFL. He went undrafted in the 2019 NFL Draft but was able to sign a deal as an undrafted free agent with the Browns.

Cleveland waived running back Devante Mays to make room for Scott.

During his career at Michigan State, Scott appeared in 43 games for the Spartans, making 23 starts. He finished his career with 2,855 yards and 25 touchdowns on 610 carries. Scott played in just five games in 2018, tallying 264 yards on the ground and 95 receiving yards.

Scott’s best season in East Lansing came in 2016, when he totaled 994 rushing yards and 147 receiving yards and accounted for seven total touchdowns. The following season, the running back recorded 898 rushing yards and 146 receiving yards with nine total touchdowns.
