Mark Dantonio during Pinstripe Bowl Press Conference: 'We're not where we want to be'
Michigan State went 6-6 overall in 2019. The Spartans are used to better records and having higher aspirations, but, it is what it is. Michigan State is bowl eligible and is going to play in the Pinstripe Bowl.

During the press conference before the game, Spartans coach Mark Dantonio was very honest:
Dantonio at Pinstripe Bowl presser in NYC: "We're not where we want to be. We're a 6-6 football team right now. … Our focus is what comes next. Our focus is to become 7-6. … Always look toward the future and make it the best."

Michigan State isn’t where it wants to be. The focus is to win and get better, but also looking toward the future. The Spartans aren’t thrilled with where they are at. Should they be?
That’s for them to decide. They want more. They know they can be better than 6-6.
While some programs would celebrate a Pinstripe Bowl appearance, Michigan State doesn’t seem to be one of them.
More from Dantonio ahead of the matchup against Wake Forest:
Dantonio on facing Demon Deacons: "They do a great job defensively giving you great looks." Says sees thing with Wake Forest offense that "are new."
