Tyler Johnson named Outback Bowl MVP following epic performance to finish career
Tyler Johnson wrapped up his collegiate career against Auburn, and he quite literally saved his best performance for last!
The wide receiver who bypassed the NFL Draft to return for his senior season with the Gophers has been sensational all season long. On New Year’s Day, Johnson officially etched his name into Minnesota’s record books. He went into first place on the all-time lists for receiving yards and receiving touchdowns, finishing with an incredible performance against the Tigers.

During Minnesota’s win, Johnson recorded 12 catches for 204 yards and two touchdowns, including a highlight-reel worthy one-handed grab in the end zone. That performance earned him Outback Bowl MVP honors.

For his career, Johnson finishes with 3,305 yards receiving and 33 touchdowns. Congratulations to Johnson as he wraps up an impressive and incredibly successful Minnesota career. Now, he will prepare for the NFL Draft.
