Nebraska doesn't land top target, but still gets commitment from four-star CB
Nebraska went into the day hoping to pick up a few more commitments from talented California recruits. It wasn’t the National Signing Day that Husker fans hoped for.
Four-star receiver Jamire Calvin flipped his commitment five days after giving his verbal pledge to Nebraska. Five-star receiver Joseph Lewis picked USC instead of Nebraska, as did his teammate, four-star athlete Greg Johnson.
Still, Nebraska closed out its 2017 class with a nice late pickup from California.
Former Florida commit Elijah Blades announced that he was joining the Huskers’ 2017 class.
The four-star Pasadena, Calif. recruit is the No. 16 cornerback and No. 138 player overall in the 247sports composite rankings, which made him Nebraska’s second-highest rated player in the 2017 class.
Blades gave his commitment to Nebraska a week after de-committing from Florida. The 6-2, 170-pound cornerback explained why he made the switch:

Blades was the fifth four-star recruit to join Nebraska’s 2017 class, which ranks No. 5 in the B1G and No. 22 overall.
Nebraska finished first among B1G West teams in the 247sports class rankings.
