It’s never too early to look ahead to next year’s recruiting class. After all, the process doesn’t really take any breaks.

Over the weekend, Northwestern added a verbal pledge to its 2020 class from Cam Porter, one of the Midwest’s top running backs. He made his announcement via Twitter on Saturday evening.

“Blessed to announce that I have committed to Northwestern University,” Porter wrote.

Porter is a 3-star running back and is ranked as the No. 11 player out of Ohio. He’s also currently the No. 37 running back of the 2020 class.

He becomes the second prospect to join Northwestern’s 2020 recruiting class.

Porter has caught the eye of several B1G programs and has received a total 11 offers. In addition to Northwestern, the running back had interest from Iowa, Purdue and Minnesota. Outside of the B1G, Louisville, Iowa State and Cincinnati also made offers.

Porter is the second skill position player to commit to the Wildcats’ 2020 class. Aidan Atkinson, a 3-star pro-style quarterback committed in November.
