If Chris Godwin laid an egg in the Rose Bowl, he would’ve had a legitimate excuse.

He, of course, didn’t. Looking back, the fact that he had a career day was even more impressive of an accomplishment.

The former Penn State receiver revealed at the NFL Scouting Combine that he was battling a serious stomach bug that he caught the night before the Rose Bowl. He said that he didn’t stop throwing up until right before the game.

Godwin’s 187 receiving yards and two scores in the Rose Bowl nearly pushed Penn State to a victory. It’s safe to say that Godwin did about everything in his power to get the Lions there.

He was a force in every way possible.

That performance likely made an impact on Godwin’s decision to declare early for the NFL draft. The All-B1G wideout led the Lions in receiving back-to-back years and became an integral part of their resurgent season.

Godwin spent the last couple months training and getting pointers from former All-Pro receiver Calvin Johnson.

Godwin and the rest of the receivers will go through individual workouts at the combine on Saturday.
