One of the top five players from the state of Pennsylvania in the 2020 recruiting class had decided to stay home.

Monday afternoon, three-star offensive lineman Nicholas Dawkins announced his commitment to Penn State via Twitter. He became the ninth player to commit to James Franklin and Co. in the class.

“Thank you to my teammates and coaches for being there and grinding with me to get where I’m at today,” Dawkins wrote in a message on Twitter. “Therefore, for the next 4-5 years of my life I am 10000% committed to Pennsylvania State University.”

Dawkins is the first in-state player to join Penn State’s 2020 class but is the fourth offensive lineman to commit. His commitment places the Lions at No. 9 in the latest recruiting rankings on 247Sports and No. 2 in the B1G.

Per his profile on 247Sports, Dawkins is the fifth-best player out of the state of Pennsylvania and ranks No. 38 among offensive guards in the class.

Dawkins is a native of Allentown, Penn., and stands 6-foot-4, 300 pounds. He had 26 offers outside of Penn State, including Indiana, Rutgers and Northwestern. He also held offers from Tennessee, Temple, Pitt, Louisville and others.

Penn State has received three commitments since holding its spring game.
