Two weeks ago, after LSU defeated Auburn on a last second field goal, former Ohio State quarterback Joe Burrow was asked about the environment at Jordan-Hare Stadium. Reporters wanted to know if it was the most difficult stadiums he’s played in.

“This one trumps Penn State,” Burrow said after the game. Maybe it wasn’t intentional, but it was a subtle jab at the Nittany Lions.

Burrow’s former coach, Urban Meyer, however, was willing to pay Beaver Stadium its proper respect. On Monday, the Ohio State head coach met with the media and was asked about playing in Happy Valley and how to prepare for such a hostile environment.

“It’s just a difficult place. Certainly one of the top five stadiums to play in, hard to play in,” Meyer said. “Very loud and the fans are very into it just like our Horseshoe. You’ve got to be ready for that kind of environment.”

The last time the Buckeyes made the trip to Beaver Stadium, they dropped a 24-21 contest to the Nittany Lions, costing them a chance to win the B1G. Ohio State did go on to compete in the College Football Playoff, however.

Saturday’s environment will be a challenge for Haskins and the Buckeyes, and it will serve as the first true road test for the team. Ohio State’s matchup against TCU in Arlington, Texas was technically a neutral site game at AT&T Stadium.

Penn State has already announced that Saturday’s game will be a “white out” in the Stadium. That kind of environment has proven to be one of the most difficult in college football.
