Blake Cashman had a huge day in his final Minnesota home game
Minnesota hosted Northwestern Saturday in what many saw was a “meaningless” game for the Wildcats.
Northwestern had already clinched the Big Ten West going into the game and had no chance of making the College Football Playoff even if it won out. Regardless, the Wildcats won the game on the road 24-14.
Northwestern moves to 7-4 with the win, while Minnesota is now 5-6 and is one win away from becoming bowl eligible with just one game remaining. Minnesota LB Blake Cashman, however, did all he could do to get the Golden Gophers a win.
Cashman, a senior, played his final home game on Saturday and here were his stats:
#Gophers linebacker Blake Cashman left it all on TCF Bank Stadium turf vs. Northwestern on Senior Day on Saturday. Eden Prairie native was all over field with a career-high 20 tackles, 2 1/2 for loss, a sack and pass break up. Minnesota is gonna miss his speed, instincts, heart.

Cashman had just about everything in this game, including 20 tackles. What a way to end your time as a Golden Gopher.
Next week, Minnesota travels to Wisconsin to conclude its regular season.
