A future Purdue wide receiver has secured a little more hardware before making the trip to West Lafayette.

On Monday night, David Bell was named the IndyStar Boys Athlete of the Year. He was one of the top football players from the state of Indiana and committed to Purdue in January.

Bell is a member of Purdue’s 26-member recruiting class in 2019. A four-star wide receiver from Indianapolis, Bell was the second-best player from the state, behind future teammate George Karlaftis.

At 6-foot-1, 200 pounds, Bell is expected to step on the field immediately for the Boilermakers and make an impact in the passing game, alongside rising sophomore Rondale Moore.

In his final season at Warren Central, Bell had 85 catches for 1,542 yards and 22 touchdowns. He helped lead his team to a perfect 14-0 record and an Indiana state title.
