Footballscoop.com and the Journal and Courier reported that former Purdue interim coach Gerad Parker is joining Luke Fickell’s staff as Cincinnati’s new running backs coach.

Parker took over after Darrell Hazell was fired in the middle of the 2016 season. The Boilermakers went 0-6 with Parker at the helm.

Before he became the team’s interim coach, Parker coached Purdue’s receivers and tight ends, and also served as the recruiting coordinator for four seasons.

Fickell, the former Ohio State defensive coordinator, already brought on former Purdue linebackers coach and co-defensive coordinator Marcus Freeman to the same position at Cincinnati.

Purdue coach Jeff Brohm has yet to announce the titles for his new staff.

It’s unknown if Parker was offered a position on Brohm’s staff.
