Purdue’s quarterback room is getting a little deeper this offseason.

Tuesday, Dayton quarterback Jack Albers announced via Twitter that he will be leaving the Flyers and continue his college football career in West Lafayette. He comes to Purdue after spending two seasons at Dayton, including one redshirt year.

“Thankful for the Dayton football program and opportunities afforded to me over the last two seasons,” Albers wrote. “I’m transferring, taking my remaining 2-3 years of eligibility and joining [Purdue football]. Boiler Up.”

Albers is a native of Louisville, Kentucky and was listed as a dual-threat quarterback by 247Sports. He played in just two games with the Flyers, rushing for 16 yards on three carries.

While Purdue’s quarterback battle for the 2020 season will likely come between Jack Plummer and Aidan O’Connell, the Boilermakers did lose veteran gunslinger Elijah Sindelar, who opted to step away from football after suffering another season-ending injury in 2019. Purdue does need some added depth at the quarterback position.

The Boilers finished the 2019 season with a 4-8 record, marking the first time under Jeff Brohm the program was not bowl eligible.
