Purdue has received its first commitment of the 2020 class.

On Wednesday afternoon, Ben Kreul, a three-star linebacker out of Wisconsin, gave his verbal pledge to the Boilermakers. He became the first prospect of the 2020 class to commit to Jeff Brohm and Co.

“Playing in the Big 10 has been a dream of mine since I was little,” Kreul said via Twitter. “This opportunity is one that I couldn’t have passed up on, with that being said, I am announcing my commitment to Purdue University! Boiler up!”

Kreul is ranked as a top 20 linebacker and is a top 10 player from his home state. He had two other offers outside of Purdue, including Nebraska and Iowa State.

According to 247Sports, Kreul is a top 600 player currently.

The 2019 recruiting class will be completed next week, with National Signing Day coming on Wednesday. With this cycle wrapping up, coaches are starting to gear their attention to the 2020 class.
