Former Wisconsin running back Michael Bennett has pleaded no contest to charges of burglary and identity theft and will spend the next five years in prison.

Bennett, who played for the Badgers from 1999-200, took out $225,000 in loans in the name of his girlfriend’s parents, according to Filipa Ioannou of the San Francisco Chronicle. He also broke into the parents’ home to steal paperwork that he was able to use for identity theft.

He was arrested in Nov. 2015.

Bennett is a former first-round pick, being selected No. 27 overall by the Minnesota Vikings in the 2001 draft. In his ten-year career, he played for the Vikings, New Orleans Saints, Kansas City Chiefs, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, San Diego Chargers and Oakland Raiders. He was a Pro Bowl selection in 2002.

At Wisconsin, Bennett racked up 1,979 yards and 15 touchdowns in two seasons. Most of those numbers came in his junior campaign in 2000, totaling 1,681 yards and 11 touchdowns.
