B1G announces Players of the Week following Week 4 action
Week 4 is in the books, and the B1G has some huge performances honored with the Players of the Week!
On Monday, the conference announced a total of 6 recipients of the weekly honor. Iowa led the way with two Hawkeyes earning Player of the Week.
Co-Offensive Players of the Week
- RB Blake Corum, Michigan
- QB Tanner Morgan, Minnesota
Corum was electric for the Wolverines in the first B1G game and first real test of the 2022 season. He set career-high marks in carries and rushing yards, eclipsing 200 yards in the win over Maryland.

Morgan and the Gophers were also impressive, though Minnesota rolled to a blowout win over Michigan State on the road. Morgan’s efficient outing was particularly impressive considering the loss of Chris Autman-Bell to injury.

Co-Defensive Players of the Week
- DB Kaevon Merriweather, Iowa
- LB Tommy Eichenberg, Ohio State
Merriweather had a big game in the win over Rutgers, returning a fumble for a touchdown in the game. He also produced an interception to go with 3 tackles and a pass breakup as the Iowa defense has held opponents to 23 points in four games.
Eichenberg was a stout defender in the middle during Ohio State’s blowout win over Wisconsin. He recorded 14 tackles and 2 TFL as the Buckeyes limited Wisconsin to one TD over the first three quarters.

Special Teams Player of the Week
- P Tory Taylor, Iowa
Taylor is once again the top specialist in the conference, earning the award for the third time in his career. Taylor had 5 punts against the Scarlet Knights and dropped 4 of them inside the 20-yard line.

Freshman of the Week
- RB Kaytron Allen, Penn State
Allen recorded the first 100-yard game of his career in the win over Central Michigan, putting up 111 yards on 13 carries. It was the third-straight game the Nittany Lions put up a 100-yard rusher.
