Baker Mayfield just completed his first season in the NFL, but he talks like a 10-year veteran. So when someone says something he doesn’t agree with, the rookie isn’t afraid to call them out.

On Monday, Aaron Goldhammer of ESPN Cleveland tweeted out a statement by Tony Grossi, also of ESPN Cleveland and WKNR, comparing Kyler Murray and Baker Mayfield. Except Grossi likened Murray more to Johnny Manziel and Mayfield.

When Mayfield caught wind of the statement, he was quick to call out the radio host for his statement.

“[Grossi] also said he would retire if the Browns drafted me,” Mayfield said in a tweet. “So does anything he say have truth to it? Couldn’t be more any more wrong. There is no comparison to even be made about Kyler. He’s a winner and if you don’t see that, something is wrong with you.”

Mayfield is sticking up for his fellow Oklahoma quarterback, and for good reason. Murray will be considered one of the top draft picks, should he decide to go the NFL route rather than baseball.

Both Mayfield and Murray won the Heisman Trophy, doing so in back-to-back years.

Mayfield has a name for himself as a quarterback and as a player who isn’t afraid to speak his mind. The folks in Cleveland are finding that out pretty darn quick.
