Another one bites the dust.

The B1G is entering Week 6, and another game has been marked off the schedule due to COVID-19. Saturday’s battle for Paul Bunyan’s Axe between Minnesota and Wisconsin goes down as a scratch because of issues within the Gophers program. It’s the fifth game in 2020 to be canceled.

Don’t worry, though, there’s still plenty of B1G football to load up on, along with turkey, mashed potatoes, mac’n’cheese, pecan pie and anything else you can fit on your Thanksgiving plate. It should be entertaining, as well.

Before Week 6 kicks off, here are some bold predictions for every game on the schedule:

Nebraska (1-3) vs. #24 Iowa (3-2)

Bold prediction: Tyler Goodson hits 200 rushing yards

The Iowa running back has had a solid season through five games, rushing for 453 yards and 6 touchdowns so far this season. But Goodson has been particularly good against bad defenses, torching Michigan State and Minnesota for a combined 255 yards and 4 touchdowns on just 34 carries.

You know who else is struggling defensively? Nebraska. The Huskers are surrendering more than 223 yards per game on the ground, ranking 13th in the B1G.

Nebraska is going to struggle against a strong Iowa offensive line and a running back who’s getting better as the season progresses. Look for Goodson to have a big day.

#4 Ohio State (4-0) vs. Illinois (2-3)

Bold prediction: Life gets back to normal for Ohio State’s passing attack

Justin Fields was essentially unrecognizable last week. The Heisman Trophy candidate threw 3 interceptions against Indiana’s defense, though the Buckeyes held on for a 42-35 victory over the Hoosiers. Don’t expect a similar outing this week.

Remember the first two games of the season when Illinois’ passing defense was allowing quarterbacks to complete passes at more than an 80% clip? I think we’ll see more of that this weekend.

Not only does Ohio State have an advantage in talent, it will be wanting to wash the bad taste out of its mouth from a poor performance. Good luck stopping that, Illini.

Maryland (2-1) vs. #12 Indiana (4-1)

Bold prediction: Make it 3-straight 200-yard games for Ty Fryfogle

Fryfogle has looked like a man on a mission the last two games for Indiana. And there really isn’t anyone in Maryland’s secondary who can stop him.

Through five games, Fryfogle has a B1G-best 642 receiving yards with 7 touchdown catches. Maryland is coming off two straight off weeks due to COVID-19 concerns and already had some issues defensively — though that wasn’t the case against Penn State.

Michael Penix Jr. is going to continue to feed Fryfogle until it’s proven he can be stopped. That won’t happen this weekend.

Penn State (0-5) vs. Michigan (2-3)

Bold prediction: Penn State gets its first win of the season

Michigan might have gotten a little momentum last week by inserting Cade McNamara at quarterback and defeating Rutgers in overtime, but I’m not convinced it’s a better football team than Penn State. And yes, I mean the 0-5 Penn State.

Even though the Nittany Lions have little to play for this season, they certainly don’t want to end the year with a zero in the win column and will put extra emphasis on beating a program like Michigan this week. It is still Michigan, after all.

A win over Michigan would give James Franklin and Co. something to celebrate this season. Penn State will get the opportunity to enjoy a victory for the first time in 2020.

#8 Northwestern (5-0) vs. Michigan State (1-3)

Bold Prediction: A defensive touchdown is scored by Michigan State

Can you envision Michigan State’s stagnant offense moving the football against Northwestern’s suffocating defense? The Spartans might be lucky if they get onto the right side of the 50-yard line in this game.

But, I don’t believe Michigan State gets shut out two games in a row. For that reason, I think the Spartans make a play defensively and turn it into a touchdown.

As good as Peyton Ramsey has been this season, he’s also made some head-scratching decisions. He’ll have a silly turnover and Michigan State takes advantage. It’s not going to change the outcome, though, as the Wildcats will still be big winners.

Rutgers (1-4) vs. Purdue (2-2)

Bold prediction: Rutgers has a turnover-free game for the first time this season

Turnovers have been a serious issue for Greg Schiano’s team this season. It’s a major reason why Rutgers hasn’t been able to squeak out a second win after taking down Michigan State in the opener.

Saturday, the Scarlet Knights take on a depleted Purdue defense (no George Karlaftis) that has struggled to force turnovers each of the last two weeks. If ever there was a time for Rutgers to play a clean game, this weekend is it.

Rutgers takes care of the football and gives itself a chance to beat Purdue on Saturday. Now, whether or not it actually turns into a victory is another question.
