College football analyst Joel Klatt has been clamoring for a commissioner for the sport for quite some time. But the FOX Sports personality says it’s critical that something change in that regard quickly.

Klatt took to Twitter over the weekend in response to the news that Texas and Oklahoma will be leaving the Big 12 and SEC. He says it’s imperative that college football introduce a commissioner or a board in order to salvage the sport.

“CFB is in desperate need of a Commissioner or Board that can guide and oversee the whole sport,” Klatt said on Twitter. “The current disconnected framework rewards those that act, as they should, in their own best interest with little to no regard for comprehensive impact or fallout.

“The movement will continue in the following days, months, and years in order for Universities to grow revenue. While I understand the need for such my hope is that we can retain some of the fabric of the sport while growing, together, in a way that maximizes opportunity.”

Klatt’s comments echo similar sentiments from ESPN’s Kirk Herbstreit. He believes that college football is losing valuable tradition with all the changes coming.

“I’ve tried to be the guy who thinks people care about tradition and rivalries,” Herbstreit said Friday morning. “Clearly, the decision makers don’t. It’s an arms race and it’s about the money.”

Over the course of one summer, a lot has changed in college football. Clearly, some of the most important voices aren’t in favor of these alterations.
