Sometimes punters are labeled unfairly. Sometimes, they’re not viewed as “true” football players.

But Notre Dame punter Tyler Newsome is trying to change that narrative. And he might go down as the strongest punter ever to put on a college uniform in the process.

During Notre Dame’s pro day, Newsome participated in the bench press to show off his strength. Thirty — 30! — reps later, he did exactly that.

Newsome’s insane bench press was captured on video, which of course went viral on Twitter. Not only did he get to 30 reps, he made it look way too easy.

So, if there are any NFL teams looking to land the toughest, strongest punter this offseason, Newsome might be the answer.

Newsome has a pretty good leg, too. He averaged 44.66 yards per punt in 2018, which was the 15th-best average in college football. He also averaged 4.1 punts per game.

But none of those punts were nearly as impressive as his work on the bench press.
