While I agree that Crean's 2017 recruiting class of Justin Smith, Al Durham and Clifton Moore wasn't noteworthy and did not leave Archie with enough Big Ten ready talent, the author and Jeff Goodman fail to point out that OG Anunoby, James Blackmon and Thomas Bryant all had eligibility left in 2017-2018. None of the three returned to IU. While that wasn't surprising, it points to what I believe was Crean's biggest problem at IU. He recruited well enough to achieve three of the school's best four seasons in over 20 years, but he wasn't able to recruit quite well enough to account for a number of early professional departures and transfers. The roster continuity was just not there on a year to year basis.
