Bret Bielema and the Illinois staff are putting in some serious work on the recruiting front this month.

Wednesday, the Fighting Illini added another commitment to the 2022 recruiting class, this time from a tight end out of New Jersey. Three-star prospect Owen Anderson gave his verbal pledge to the program, becoming the fourth player in April to do so.

“First off I’d like to thank my Family, Friends, Coaches and Teammates for supporting me. I’d also like to thank all of the schools and coaches who have recruited me,” Anderson wrote on Twitter. “With that being said I’d like to announce my commitment to the University of Illinois!!”

Anderson is a 6-foot-4, 235-pound tight end who ranks as the No. 66 player at his position, per 247Sports. He’s also listed as the No. 30 overall player from New Jersey. He picked Illinois over offers from Michigan State, Georgia Tech, Buffalo, Liberty, UMass and Navy.

With Anderson’s commitment, Illinois is now up to six pledges in its 2022 recruiting class. The Illini rank 37th nationally and No. 8 in the B1G.
