Indiana had every right to quit during Saturday’s game. But that’s not how the Hoosiers – or head coach Tom Allen – go about their business.

After tying the game at 7-all in the second quarter, Indiana saw Ohio State put on a strong surge to close the half. The Buckeyes put up 21-unanswered points to carry a three-score lead into the break.

Allen knew that was a big deficit, but he wanted to make sure his players knew the game was far from over. He provided a powerful halftime speech as only he can:

“It’s one snap at a time, men. We can’t do anything to change the first half. Nothing. I want everything that’s inside of you left on that field,” said Allen. “Everything’s that inside of you left on that field. 30 minutes of football, men. But everything you got. Finish.

“I want to see what kind of character this team’s got. It gets revealed when there’s pressure applied. It gets revealed, you understand me? Absolutely it does. I want to see what’s inside of you!”

Unfortunately, the Hoosiers were unable to pull off a victory, but the team did have a chance to tie it up at the end of regulation. Even in the loss, Allen was impressed and appreciative of the character and effort of his team.

Hopefully Indiana is able to bounce back in Week 6 against Maryland.
