As the sights and sounds of college football are starting to return this week with Big Ten Media Days, that includes the reintroduction of the lovable Tom Allen to our social media feeds once again.

The latest instance of Allen causing folks in Bloomington to be proud came at an alumni event. The Hoosier head coach gave a speech that left those in attendance and whoever may be watching now inspired.

“If it’s all about ball, that’s OK,” Allen said in-part. “That’s part of it. But if that’s all I can give this guy, what have I really given him? Not enough. Not enough.”

Once again, Allen is proving to be a home run hire for Indiana. Bringing an attitude like that into a recruit’s home seems like a winning strategy to me.

So far, that strategy does seem to be paying off as the Hoosiers are coming off a historic 2020 season. Indiana posted a 6-1 regular season record in the pandemic-ridden season and was Ohio State’s toughest competition in the road to a Big Ten championship. The Hoosiers went on to the Outback bowl and suffered their second loss of the season. The success resulted in Allen being named Big Ten Coach of the Year.

Everything seems to be going right for Allen as he continues to dazzle the Hoosier faithful. It’s safe to say those in Bloomington are eager to see what else Allen and his team can accomplish this fall.
