The waiting game continues in Bloomington.

On Tuesday, Indiana head coach Tom Allen told Zach Osterman of the Indianapolis Star that the Hoosiers are still waiting to hear a decision regarding Jack Tuttle’s eligibility for the 2019 season. The former Utah quarterback transferred to IU this offseason and has put in a waiver for immediate eligibility.

It’s been a long process for the former four-star quarterback, especially considering some of the decision the NCAA has already made in similar situations. Former Georgia quarterback Justin Fields received a waiver from the NCAA for immediate eligibility after transferring to Ohio State. Ex-Buckeye quarterback Tate Martell also will be eligible for the 2019 season at Miami after leaving Columbus.

Every situation is different, but it seemed likely that Tuttle would be granted a waiver based on those decision. Concern continues to grow, however, as the NCAA continues to doddle along with its decision on the new Hoosiers gunslinger.

Tuttle’s eligibility will make a huge difference on the depth chart for Indiana next fall. If he’s allowed to participate in 2019, Tuttle will compete for the starting job with Peyton Ramsey and Michael Penix Jr. If not, the Hoosiers may run into some depth concerns at the position.

For Indiana’s sake, hopefully the NCAA comes to a decision quickly.
