June is typically a big month for the recruiting class of the current year, but the Hawkeyes have added to one of their future classes this week.

On Friday, Iowa received a verbal pledge from four-star offensive lineman Connor Colby, the second-best in-state player of the 2021 class. He made his announcement with a brief message on Twitter.

“Committed to the University of Iowa,” Colby wrote.

A native of Cedar Rapids, Colby stands 6-foot-5, 270 pounds. He’s not just one of the top prospects in the 2021 class. According to 247Sports, the four-star offensive tackle is ranked as the No. 26 player at his position. Overall, Colby comes in as the No. 222 player of the cycle.

Colby becomes the second player to commit to Iowa in the 2021 class. He joins three-star offensive tackle Gennings Dunker, a native of Lena, Illinois. Dunker is ranked as the No. 39 player at the position and No. 325 overall.

With Colby’s commitment, the Hawkeyes own the fourth-best class in the B1G in 2021, and sit 11th nationally. Iowa’s 2020 class is also in great shape, sitting third in the conference and 22nd in the country.
