Kirk Ferentz has been at this coaching thing for quite some time now, so he probably fully understands what his team does and doesn’t have.

Earlier this week, Ferentz was asked about Iowa’s preparation for Penn State and how the Hawkeyes will be getting ready for one of the best teams in the country. Obviously, one of the reasons the Nittany Lions are so good is because of Heisman-caliber running back Saquon Barkley.

One reporter asked Ferentz if there was anyone who could simulate Barkley in practice. His response to the question was priceless.

“Are you kidding me, ” Ferentz said, according to Ben Jones of StateCollege.com. “He’d be at our end if he did. He wouldn’t be simulating — he would be our guy. Or else time for me to be doing something else, that’s for sure. If you see one of those guys walking around that wants to come to Iowa, let me know, will you?”

Last year, the Hawkeyes couldn’t stop Barkley, as the running back amassed 167 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries. Penn State clobbered Iowa 41-14 in Beaver Stadium.

Ferentz seems to fully understand what Barkley brings to the table and just how dynamic he can be. We’ll see if the Hawkeyes defense has any answer for the Heisman candidate on Saturday.
