Jack Campbell addresses emotional final home game to Iowa career
Jack Campbell has been recognized as one of the best linebackers in the country, recently being named one of five finalists for the prestigious Butkus Award. Unfortunately, Campbell was on the losing end of Iowa’s Heroes Game matchup with Nebraska.
In that performance, Campbell tied Seth Benson for the team lead with 8 total tackles. It wasn’t enough as the Hawkeyes gave up 24 points to the Huskers and dealt with some ill-timed turnovers and penalties.
After the game, Campbell was asked about leaving the field in Kinnick Stadium one final time as a senior. He was understandably emotional while discussing what the program means to him.

“When you walk off that field for the last time, everything that this program has done for me, and the guys in that locker room. It means a lot and it hurts,” said Campbell. “…But no one’s gonna hang their head again. We’re just gonna keep going, we’ve got one more as a group together… I’m always proud to be an Iowa Hawkeye and I always will be.”
With 8 more tackles on Friday, Campbell is up to 115 on the season and 289 tackles for his career with the Hawkeyes. He also has 110+ tackles in back-to-back seasons.
