WATCH: Hawkeyes defensive lineman writes, sings song dedicated to the Iowa Wave
It only took one Saturday in 2017 for Iowa’s new tradition to earn the moniker “the best in college football.”
Two years ago, at the end of the first quarter in the season opener against Wyoming in 2017, players, fans, coaches, officials and everyone else inside Kinnick Stadium turned to the Stead Family Children’s Hospital that overlooked the field and waved to the children up above. It’s become the most heartwarming tradition in college football.
Many Iowa players talk about the impact that simple first quarter gesture has on their lives. One of those Hawkeyes is defensive lineman Dalles Jacobus, a redshirt junior. He recently wrote and performed a song dedicated to Iowa’s Wave.
Jacobus’ performance was captured on video and posted on Facebook by Kim Beyer Olson. As you might imagine, it’s pretty popular. And powerful.
Below is the video of Jacobus’ new song. This is just one of the reasons why The Wave is such a cool tradition in college football. Enjoy:
