Taulia Tagovailoa missed several plays in the second quarter in Maryland’s resounding 37-0 win over Rutgers on Saturday.

Maryland fans were collectively holding their breaths as the QB went down on Saturday and needed assistance to exit the field. However, with a huge sigh of relief, the injury appeared to not be serious, and Tagovailoa was able to return to the field.

Head coach Michael Locksley provided an update on the QB after the game, saying it was not a new injury, just lingering soreness.

“He finished the game, so he’s great. I didn’t hear if there was anything. He’s been battling a knee bruise he suffered a week ago. It was the same injury. He fell on top of the knee, which is a little sore. It is all about the medical people and what he’s able to do. If he’s available, we play him. If he’s not, then we go to the next guy.”

Tagovailoa has been a bright spot for Maryland this season, racking up 2,787 yards and 17 TDs for the Terrapins. The QB has several big decisions to make after the conclusion of the regular season on Saturday.

Due to the pandemic, Tagovailoa has a year of eligibility remaining and could return to Maryland next year. The QB could also decide to declare for the NFL Draft immediately, or he could also play in the Terrapins bowl game and then decide on his Draft status at a later date.
