Florida head coach Jim McElwain isn’t lacking confidence as he leads the Gators into a massive Week 1 showdown against Michigan at AT&T Stadium in a little less than two weeks.

Despite Vegas favoring the Wolverines by 3.5 points in the season opener, McElwain said Florida is headed to Arlington, Texas, with a  purpose: to beat Michigan. He made that point clear at a student pep rally.

“I love the energy, can’t wait to see you,” McElwain said after thanking students for buying all available season tickets. “And you know what, we’re heading to Dallas here in a couple weeks to go beat the heck out of Michigan and then come back to you guys.”

McElwain has met Jim Harbaugh and the Wolverines once while at Florida, a lopsided 41-7 win for the Wolverines in the Citrus Bowl following the 2015 season.

Florida will be without seven players for the first game of the season, including star receiver Antonio Callaway.

Don’t be surprised if Harbaugh has some sort of response in the near future.
