Love him or hate him, Jim Harbaugh speaks his mind. And he really doesn’t care what you, or anyone else, thinks about his comments.

Soon, author John U. Bacon will see his new book “Overtime: Jim Harbaugh and the Michigan Wolverines at the Crossroads of College Football” released. It’ll be a must-purchase book for any UM fan out there, and should be an interesting read for any college football fan.

Especially since we’ve received a sneak peek in a recent article from Forbes.com about the book.

The book, which highlights some of the behind-the-scenes workings of a football program at a blueblood institution, puts a heavy emphasis on the financial situations that each university endures with football, particularly on the recruiting trail.

In the book, Harbaugh still speaks his mind openly, which includes a specific quote that will likely rub a lot of college football fans the wrong way. From Forbes:

Harbaugh, who has made plenty of enemies south of the Mason-Dixon line since taking over at Michigan, has poked the cages of SEC coaches repeatedly and in the book, speaks to the disparity in spending by simply telling Bacon, “(It’s) hard to beat the cheaters.”

Yet, despite the unleveled nature of the playing field as he sees it, Harbaugh continues to sell the program in his own way without crossing the line he insinuates is repeatedly crossed by other programs. Harbaugh’s own experiences as a Michigan player have direct ties to the ways he handles his coaching duties now.

That’s an interesting statement from Harbaugh, especially considering how well he’s done on the recruiting trail. And it certainly makes us more interested in what else he has to say throughout the book.
