Report: Juwan Howard to become Michigan head basketball coach
Juwan Howard is coming back to Ann Arbor, according to a report.
Jon Rothstein reported on Wednesday that Howard will be the next head coach at Michigan, accepting the position after it was offered earlier in the day by athletic director Warde Manuel.
A press conference is expected to come later this week.
Sources: Michigan is expected to hire Miami Heat assistant Juwan Howard as its next head basketball coach. Press Conference will be either late this week or early next week.

Howard met with Manuel on Tuesday about the position. He was one of three strong candidates for the position, along with Providence head coach Ed Cooley and current Wolverines assistant Luke Yuklich.
Howard has been a name ESPN analysts Jay Williams and Jalen Rose have thrown out for the job. Rose, who was a teammate of Howard’s at Michigan, said it is a “no brainer” to bring Howard back to Ann Arbor, considering his knowledge, credibility and experience.
It appears that Manuel felt the same way.
While Howard doesn’t have any experience as a head coach, he has spent the last six years serving as an assistant coach for the NBA’s Miami Heat. That, along with being a member of the Fab Five, provides Howard with a strong foundation to continue moving the Michigan program in the right direction.
