WATCH: Michigan's Ako Thomas lays out, robs Texas Tech with spectacular catch
In the College World Series, players are putting it all on the line. That includes Michigan 2nd baseman Ako Thomas.
Michigan was holding a 4-2 advantage in the bottom of the 5th with Texas Tech having a runner at 2nd base. The Red Raiders appeared to have a guaranteed hit that would’ve at least moved the runner to 3rd, if not driven him home.
But Thomas got a good jump on the hit, laid out and made a spectacular catch to keep the runner at bay. It’s early, but it could end up as one of the top plays from the College World Series in Day 1:

That play from Thomas probably saved at least a run and has kept the Wolverines in the lead in Omaha.
