Cassius Winston has moved up on the Michigan State all-time assist leaderboard.

Tuesday night, during the Spartans’ 91-76 victory over Nebraska, Winston dished 10 assists and climbed to No. 2 all-time in Michigan State’s history in the category. He passed Scott Skiles, who had 645 assists in his MSU career, which spanned from 1982-86.

Other impressive names that Winston surpassed this season were Denzel Valentine and Eric Snow. Currently at No. 1 is Mateen Cleaves, who totaled 816 assists in his career.

Winston has been the leader of Michigan State all year long, averaging 18.8 points and 7.6 assists per game. He’s been forced to step up his game in the absence of Joshua Langford and Nick Ward.

Earlier this week, Winston was named one of five finalists for the Bob Cousy Award, recognizing the best point guard in college basketball.

Winston will have one more regular season game to improve on his total, as the Spartans take on Michigan in East Lansing on Saturday. The winner will claim at least a share of the B1G title.
