Coming off a miserable season offensively, Michigan State head coach Mark Dantonio has implemented some changes to his staff and the team’s approach.

Some of those alterations will be noticeable on Saturday, when the Spartans hit the field for their annual spring game. Dantonio said the team doesn’t plan to hide all the changes and fans will get a glimpse of a new offense.

“I think you’re going to see some things,” Dantonio told MLive.com. “We’re not going to just go out there and just bag everything we’ve been doing all spring.”

Michigan State ranked at the bottom of the B1G and college football in points and yardage averages a year ago, resulting in a 7-6 record despite owning an elite defense. Dantonio shifted his offensive coaching staff to try and generate some momentum within the program, rather than making more substantial changes.

The Spartans struggled along the offensive line and failed to establish a strong rushing attack. Dantonio has been a huge proponent of running the football well, so expect that to be a focal point on Saturday.

Dantonio is also hoping his team takes advantage of Saturday’s opportunity to add a little more confidence and momentum to the fire ahead of summer and fall camp.

“I think we’ve got to use this opportunity to play in front of people, to create a little bit more pressure on our players to perform in front of a crowd,” Dantonio said. “It’s meaningful, it’s a meaningful scrimmage.”

Saturday’s spring game is scheduled for 2 p.m. ET at Spartan Stadium.
