Michigan State lands 2018 commitment from four-star Ohio receiver
It’s early, but Michigan State is off to a nice start in 2018.
The Spartans only have two commitments, but both of them are four-star talents out of Ohio. The latest four-star Ohio recruit to give his verbal pledge to MSU was Joseph Scates.
He made that announcement on Twitter on Tuesday night:
Extremely blessed to announce that I am Committed ✅ GO GREEN ! pic.twitter.com/vIZ3UFsRQh

Scates is the No. 25 receiver and the No. 155 player overall in the 2018 class. The Dayton, Ohio native is the No. 6 recruit in the state (247sports composite).
So far, Scates has offers from a handful of B1G schools and a few other middle-tier programs like Iowa State, Kentucky and Pitt.
Scates joined four-star athlete Xavier Henderson — a Pickerington, Ohio recruit — in MSU’s 2018 class, which currently ranks No. 35 in the 247sports rankings.
