After a 2-0 start to the season and a bye week last Saturday, Michigan State is preparing for a huge home night game against Notre Dame.

One of the early stars for the Spartans has been sophomore QB Brian Lewerke, who has thrown for 411 yards and has accounted for six total touchdowns while completing 65 percent of his passes. It’s exactly the kind of start Mark Dantonio needed from his quarterback early in the year.

Before Saturday’s showdown with Notre Dame, Lewerke sat down with Big Ten Network to talk about the early season and this weekend’s clash with the rival Irish.

In addition to his impressive passing totals, Lewerke also has 150 rushing yards and has proven to be a mobile quarterback in certain situations. That could be a huge offensive weapon for the Spartans moving forward.

Saturday’s game between Michigan State and Notre Dame will kickoff at 8 p.m. and will air on FOX.
