Minnesota running back Mo Ibrahim suffered a devastating lower-leg injury vs Ohio State in Week 1, and the Gophers confirmed on Monday morning that he’ll miss the remainder of the season.

Shortly after that announcement, Ibrahim Tweeted out an inspirational message:

“What if everything you are going through is preparing you for what you’ve asked for?” Ibrahim said.

Ibrahim was set to be one of the best players in the Big Ten this season after having a breakout campaign in 2020. Last season, he rushed for a stagger 1,056 yards and 15 touchdowns in just 7 games.

His injury proved to be game-changing against the Buckeyes, as Ohio State pulled away from Minnesota shortly after he went down. The Buckeyes ended up winning the game 45-31.

Ibrahim finishes his senior season with 163 yards and 2 touchdowns on 30 carries. He now has 3,003 rushing yards in his Minnesota career.

Ibrahim would theoretically be eligible to return to Minnesota for another season, but it’s unclear what his future plans are.
