Minnesota guard Isaiah Washington has entered the NCAA transfer portal, according to Andy Greder of the Pioneer Press.

Washington, a sophomore, is a former four-star prospect out of Bronx, NY who averaged 4.3 points and 2.8 assists per game for the Golden Gophers this season. He saw much less playing time this season compared to his freshman year in Minneapolis. In 2017-18, the guard averaged 8.7 points and 2.3 assists while appearing in all 32 games.

This season, Washington played in 28 games and made zero starts. He started in four games as a freshman.

“After talks with family, it’s best that I find a new home,” Washington tweeted. “I will not be returning to the University of Minnesota next season. I love you all, you will always have a place in my heart.”

Along with his four-star ranking, Washington was named Mr. Basketball in New York following his senior year. Per 247Sports’ rankings, the guard was ranked as the No. 62 overall player in the 2017 recruiting class.

Washington did not mention any potential landing spots, though he would be a great asset to several programs and could step into a major role in the right situation. As a transfer, Washington will have to sit a year before his receives eligibility.

Washington will have two years of eligibility remaining.
