The three-point shot hasn’t been much of a weapon for Minnesota throughout the season, but the Gophers have hit quite a few in their first round matchup against Louisville.

So, when Amir Coffey drilled the team’s sixth shot from behind the arc to close out the first half and lift Minnesota to a 38-33 lead over Louisville, it was kind of a fitting conclusion.

With less than 10 seconds left in the half, Coffey was able to set himself up for a deep look and he sunk the shot, giving the Gophers the five-point advantage.

Coffey ended the half with 13 points while knocking in three of his six shots from long range. Together, the Gophers made six three-point shots in the first 20 minutes of the game. They were averaging five three-pointers per game entering the contest.

Minnesota is in its second NCAA Tournament under Richard Pitino. It is hoping to get its first tournament win since 2013.
