It’s been a tough year for Nebraska’s specialists, and one former Cornhusker decided to poke at the situation Saturday evening.

The hit to Nebraska’s kicking situation began with the leg pain that starting kicker Barret Pickering is dealing with. While he has been sidelined, the Cornhuskers have used multiple replacements. Unfortunately, the replacements have not produced solid results.

Those struggles have led Nebraska in a desperate search to find help, adding a walk-on recently who played club soccer at the school.

Unfortunately, the walk-on, Matt Waldoch, did not travel with the team to Illinois. That leaves Nebraska essentially with only a couple emergency kickers available for the game.

As a result of those woes, former Nebraska kicker Mauro Bondi took to Twitter to lament the kicking situation. According to Bondi, it was much tougher to win a kicking battle when he was with the Cornhuskers:

Hopefully, Pickering gets better quickly and the replacements improve in the meantime.
