After being waived by the Detroit Lions earlier this week, running back Ameer Abdullah has found a new home in the NFL.

On Wednesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL.com reported that the Minnesota Vikings claimed Abdullah, remaining in the NFC North. In four seasons in Detroit, Abdullah has racked up 1,251 yards and six touchdowns on 327 carries.

This season, Abdullah appeared in three games for the Lions, taking just one handoff and hauling in two catches.

Abdullah was a star at Nebraska and was one of the B1G’s top rushers during his senior season in 2014. That year, he registered 1,611 yards and 19 touchdowns, averaging 6.1 yards per carry.

During his career with the Huskers, Abdullah totaled 4,588 yards and 39 touchdowns. He eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark in three of his four seasons.

Abdullah was selected in the second round of the 2015 NFL Draft. He was selected by the Lions with the 54th overall pick.
