Former Nebraska QB on Eichorst: He didn't gve us a good first impression
Tommy Armstrong, Jr. never had a good feeling about former Nebraska athletic director Shawn Eichorst.
On Thursday, Nebraska Chancellor Ronnie Green announced that Eichorst had been relieved of his duties as director of athletics and the university would begin the search for a replacement immediately. Just three games into the college football season, it came as a bit of a surprise to everyone.
After word spread about Eichorst’s firing, Armstrong, a former Huskers quarterback, decided to tweet out his thoughts on the former athletic director. And he didn’t have very many kind things to say.
Here’s the tweetstorm fired off by the ex-Husker:
I'll say what most of us previous players wanted to say. From day 1 he didn't give us a good first impression def during that first meeting

When he fired Bo as a athlete you would want your boss to tell you before walking into a empty building with no clue of what happened.

Then we got a email the day of saying it was all of a sudden and we will meet about it!!

So we meet about it and never once got a explanation of what happened. All he said was expectations weren't met. But when asked what were

The expectations he still didn't tell us what expectations we didn't meet. We took that as disrespectful so that's why we say what we say

Eichorst was responsible for terminating head coach Bo Pelini at the conclusion of the 2014 season and bringing in Mike Riley. Pelini’s firing, and how it was handled, clearly didn’t sit well with Armstrong or some former Nebraska players.
The firing of Eichorst now really puts Riley’s job in jeopardy following the Huskers’ 1-2 start on the field. Despite winning nine games a year ago, Nebraska is just 16-13 since 2015.
The decision to fire Eichorst didn’t seem to break many hearts in Lincoln and it’s certainly a move that Armstrong isn’t too upset about.
