The first half has been an incredible one between Nebraska and Northern Illinois.

The Cornhuskers lead 30-5 at halftime (yes, you read that right — there was a safety), which just adds to the oddity of the first 30 minutes. Aside from the safety, Nebraska and Northern Illinois have had a lot of kicks blocked in this game.

How many, to be exact?

Five:

Again, there have been five blocked kicks in the first half. We’re on pace to have 10 blocked kicks in this game. Can you imagine?

I can’t either.

At one point toward the end of the first half, Northern Illinois actually elected to do a pooch punt with its quarterback. Realistically, this proved to be smart.

Not only did the punt work, but it resulted in the aforementioned safety. The Huskies elected to do this again on their very next possession when faced with a fourth-and-one situation.

Believe it or not, Nebraska scored a touchdown with five seconds left in the half and actually successfully kicked the extra point through the uprights. The crowd gave a sarcastic cheer afterwards.

Nebraska-Northern Illinois is being played on FOX Business Network until Iowa-Iowa State concludes on FS1. Once the Hawkeyes and Cyclones finish, Nebraska will move to FS1.
